Attic insulation
Heat rises, and in many Canadian homes it leaves through the attic. Topping up attic insulation and sealing air leaks is Phase 1 work, and usually the best value per dollar of any upgrade.
What we offer
Attic insulation, done properly
Blown-in attic insulation
Bringing existing insulation up to modern levels.
Air sealing
Closing gaps around light fixtures, pipes and the attic hatch before insulating.
Attic hatch sealing
One of the largest single air leaks in many houses.
Before-and-after levels
We record insulation depth before and after, which rebate programs require.
Who this is for
Is this right for your home?
- Homes built before 1990
- Upstairs rooms that are cold in winter and hot in summer
- Homes with ice dams along the eaves
- Anyone planning a heat pump who wants a smaller, cheaper system
Signs it's time
Worth a closer look if…
- Uneven temperatures between floors
- Ice dams or icicles along the roof edge
- You can see the ceiling joists through the insulation
- High heating bills for the size of the home
- Draughts around ceiling fixtures
- Snow melting on your roof faster than your neighbours'
Upgrade or stay put
What changes, and what doesn't
Real costs depend on your home, so we don't publish guesses. Your written package puts actual numbers on both options.
If you stay put
Heat keeps escaping through the ceiling every winter, the furnace or heat pump works harder, and ice dams can damage the roof.
If you upgrade
A warmer, more even home, lower heating costs, and a smaller heating system if you replace it later.
Rebates & financing
Rebates for insulation
- Attic insulation on its own: up to $1,250, with no home energy assessment needed. The amount depends on how much insulation you have now.
- Insulation across the home (attic, walls, foundation, exposed floors): up to $7,700 when you start with a home energy assessment.
- Air sealing: up to $250, and $600 back for the home energy assessment itself.
Amounts as listed by the Home Renovation Savings program in September 2026. Assessment-path totals are capped at $5,000 for homes heated mainly with Enbridge natural gas and $10,000 for homes heated with electricity, oil, propane or wood. Official sources: Save on Energy · Enbridge Gas

How much insulation does my attic need?
Current building guidance for Ontario attics is far higher than many older homes have. We measure what you have and recommend the level that makes sense.
Does air sealing matter if I add insulation?
Yes. Insulation performs poorly if air is moving through it, so sealing comes first.
How long does it take?
Most attic jobs take less than a day.
Is this really Phase 1?
Yes. Reducing heat loss first means any new heating equipment can be sized smaller, which costs less.
