Who this is for

Is this right for your home?

  • Homes with original or single-pane windows
  • Rooms that are draughty near the glass
  • Windows with fogging between panes
  • Anyone who has finished Phase 1 work

Signs it's time

Worth a closer look if…

  • Draughts you can feel near closed windows
  • Condensation or frost on the inside of the glass
  • Fog trapped between panes
  • Rotting or soft frames and sills
  • Windows that stick or won't lock
  • Noticeable outside noise

Upgrade or stay put

What changes, and what doesn't

Real costs depend on your home, so we don't publish guesses. Your written package puts actual numbers on both options.

If you stay put

Cold spots, draughts and condensation continue, frames keep deteriorating, and rooms near windows stay uncomfortable.

If you upgrade

Warmer, quieter rooms without draughts or condensation. The energy saving is real, but windows are chosen mostly for comfort and condition.

Rebates & financing

Rebates for windows

  • $100 per rough opening replaced with an ENERGY STAR certified model, as part of the program stream that starts with a home energy assessment.
  • A rough opening is one structural opening in an outside wall. Windows need a minimum of three rough openings to qualify.
  • $600 back for the home energy assessment itself.

As listed by the Home Renovation Savings program and its eligibility requirements in September 2026. The program administrator makes the final decision. Official sources: Save on Energy · Enbridge Gas

FAQ

Windows questions

More answers on the FAQ page, or ask during your consultation.

Will new windows pay for themselves?

Windows are rarely the fastest payback on energy alone, because glass is a small share of a home's surface. Replace them when they are failing or comfort is the problem.

Why are windows Phase 2?

Insulation and air sealing usually save more per dollar, so they come first. Windows then take care of the remaining draughts and cold spots.

How long does installation take?

Most homes take one to three days depending on the number of windows.

Double or triple pane?

Triple pane adds comfort and noise reduction in cold climates. We compare both in your written package.
