LogisVert — air-to-air heat pump

Hydro-Québec

$50 or $120 per 1,000 BTU/h at −8 °C

Hydro-Québec pays by capacity, not by a flat sum: $50 per 1,000 BTU/h at −8 °C for an ENERGY STAR certified unit, and $120 per 1,000 BTU/h for a cold-climate model. Your total depends on the unit you install.

What it helps with
Installing an ENERGY STAR certified air-to-air heat pump for heating and cooling.
Who may qualify
Owners of an eligible year-round home supplied by Hydro-Québec, an off-grid network, or a municipal or co-operative network. Sherbrooke, Westmount, Magog, Joliette, Baie-Comeau, Alma, Coaticook and Amos are municipal networks and are included.
Important requirements
The unit must be ENERGY STAR certified with at least 12,000 BTU/h of cooling capacity. Heat pumps installed after 26 November 2025 must be ENERGY STAR certified. The application must reach Hydro-Québec no later than nine months after the measure is installed.
Combining with other programs
Hydro-Québec publishes 5% bonus financing when several measures are combined in one application. Whether LogisVert stacks with a given municipal program is set by that municipality, so confirm both before you buy.

LogisVert — geothermal heat pump

Hydro-Québec

$750 per 1,000 BTU/h

Published for a geothermal heat pump used as the central heating system. Replacing an end-of-life geothermal unit is a separate, smaller measure at $250 per 1,000 BTU/h, capped at $18,000 per address.

What it helps with
Installing a geothermal (ground-source) heat pump as the central heating system.
Who may qualify
Owners of an eligible home. The grant is deducted directly from the installer invoice.
Important requirements
Geothermal work is specialised and the amount depends on installed capacity. Confirm the measure and your capacity with Hydro-Québec before committing.
Combining with other programs
5% bonus financing is published for combining several measures in one application.

LogisVert — roof insulation and caulking

Hydro-Québec

$1,500

Published as a single amount for the combined measure, once per address.

What it helps with
Insulating the roof and caulking around windows, doors and ventilation openings.
Who may qualify
Owners of an eligible home, one grant per address.
Important requirements
The roof insulation must reach a minimum of RSI 8.8, and the caulking work forms part of the same measure.
Combining with other programs
Rénoclimat also pays for insulation on its own track. Check with both administrators before assuming one grant tops up the other.

What it helps with
Buying and installing solar panels and the inverter that goes with them.
Who may qualify
Owners of an eligible home who hold the final Hydro-Québec connection authorisation.
Important requirements
Applies to installations completed after 30 June 2025, and you must have the final Hydro-Québec connection authorisation. The residential LogisVert offer does not publish a home battery storage grant.

LogisVert — electric thermal storage

Hydro-Québec

$15,000, or $22,000 with a central heat pump

Published as $15,000 for an electric thermal storage system replacing a central heating unit, and $22,000 where the storage system is installed together with a central heat pump.

What it helps with
Replacing a central heating unit with an electric thermal storage system, on its own or with a central heat pump.
Who may qualify
Owners of an eligible home.
Important requirements
The grant is deducted directly from the installer invoice, so the installer has to be set up for the measure before the work starts.
Combining with other programs
5% bonus financing is published for combining several measures in one application.

LogisVert — modest-income households

Hydro-Québec

No cost to the household

Published as energy-efficiency work at no cost, beginning with heat pump installation. Hydro-Québec states that doors, windows and smart thermostats follow from 2027.

What it helps with
A cold-climate heat pump and smart thermostats installed at no cost for qualifying households.
Who may qualify
Tenants or owners whose household income is below the published thresholds, whose home is their main residence and is heated by baseboard heaters, and who receive an electricity bill in their own name.
Important requirements
You cannot apply directly. Taking part in Éconologis first is a prerequisite, and the Éconologis advisor passes your information to Hydro-Québec. Registration for the 2026–2027 season has closed.
Combining with other programs
This replaces paying for the work yourself, so the usual LogisVert grants do not apply to the same measure.

Rénoclimat — insulation

Gouvernement du Québec

From $50 to $3,750, by surface

Published per surface: roof assembly $50–$1,500; exterior walls $450–$3,750; basement exterior wall $250–$2,500; basement rim joist $200–$250; crawl space wall $200–$2,000; crawl space floor $500; exposed floor $380.

What it helps with
Adding insulation to the roof, exterior walls, basement, crawl space or an exposed floor.
Who may qualify
Quebec homeowners who complete the program energy evaluations.
Important requirements
A pre-retrofit energy evaluation must happen BEFORE any work starts, and a post-retrofit evaluation after. Work started before the first evaluation is not eligible. Most surfaces require at least 20% of the area to be insulated. Semi-detached and corner row houses receive 75% of the wall amount, other row houses 50%.
Combining with other programs
Rénoclimat participation is what makes the Longueuil insulation top-up possible, so in Longueuil the two are designed to work together.

Rénoclimat — airtightness

Gouvernement du Québec

Between $400 and $800

Published as a range; where you land depends on the airtightness improvement measured between the two evaluations.

What it helps with
Air sealing work that measurably reduces air leakage.
Who may qualify
Quebec homeowners who complete both energy evaluations.
Important requirements
The amount is driven by the measured improvement, so it is not known until the post-retrofit evaluation is done.
Combining with other programs
The LogisVert roof measure also includes caulking. Confirm with both administrators before assuming you can claim the same work twice.

Rénoclimat — doors and windows

Gouvernement du Québec

$150 each

Published as $150 for each ENERGY STAR certified door or window replaced.

What it helps with
Replacing doors and windows with ENERGY STAR certified models.
Who may qualify
Quebec homeowners who complete both energy evaluations.
Important requirements
Only ENERGY STAR certified models count, and the pre-retrofit evaluation has to come first.
Combining with other programs
RénoPlex in Montréal pays its own per-opening amounts. Check whether both can apply to the same opening before you order.

Rénoclimat — heat recovery ventilator

Gouvernement du Québec

$500

Published for installing or replacing an HRV or ERV. A drain water heat recovery system is a separate measure at $120 to $180, for a new installation only.

What it helps with
Installing or replacing a heat recovery ventilator (HRV) or energy recovery ventilator (ERV).
Who may qualify
Quebec homeowners who complete both energy evaluations.
Important requirements
The unit must be a heat recovery system listed in Section 3 of the Home Ventilating Institute certified product directory. Note that Rénoclimat no longer gives assistance for installing or replacing a heating system itself.
Combining with other programs
Because Rénoclimat dropped heating systems, the heat pump side is handled by LogisVert instead. The two programs cover different measures.

What it helps with
A free advisory visit, light weatherproofing such as caulking, weatherstripping and outlet insulation, and free electronic thermostats.
Who may qualify
Owners or tenants, on any heating fuel, whose total household income is at or below the published threshold. For 2026–2027 before tax: $59,076 for one person, $83,541 for two, $102,318 for three, $118,148 for four, $132,094 for five and $144,705 for six or more.

Dual energy conversion (electricity and natural gas)

Gouvernement du Québec with Énergir, Enbridge Gaz Québec and Hydro-Québec

Amount varies

The Quebec government page does not publish a single residential dollar figure. The amount is set by your natural gas distributor, so we link to the official page rather than quote a number.

What it helps with
Converting a natural gas heating system to a dual-energy system that runs on electricity most of the time and switches to gas in deep cold.
Who may qualify
Owners of single-family homes, duplexes, triplexes and multi-unit residential buildings whose home is heated with natural gas before the work begins.
Important requirements
Your home must already be heated with natural gas. You apply through your gas distributor, Énergir or Enbridge Gaz Québec, not through the government. A dual-energy system uses electricity roughly 70% of the time and switches to gas at about −12 °C and below.
Combining with other programs
This stream replaced the dual-energy part of Chauffez vert for gas customers. Do not expect to claim both.

Écorecharge — home charging station

Gouvernement du Québec

$600

Published as a flat $600 for the purchase and installation of a 240-volt home charging station.

What it helps with
Buying and installing a 240-volt charging station at home.
Who may qualify
Quebec residents who own an eligible electric vehicle at the time of the application.
Important requirements
The station must cost more than $600 before taxes and be installed by an electrician. The program runs until its budget is used up or the government ends it, so it is not guaranteed to be open when you are ready.
Combining with other programs
This is a vehicle-charging grant, separate from the home-upgrade programs above.

RénoPlex

Ville de Montréal

Up to $26,000, or $52,000 for 2 to 5 units

Published maximums per building. Individual measures are paid at set rates: replacing oil or gas heating with electric central heating $1,000 per unit, or with a central heat pump $1,350 per unit; windows $410 each; doors $550; patio doors $700; oil to electric water heater $550 per unit; EV charging work $370 per unit. Insulation is paid by area, for example attic or roof at $3 per square metre per R20 increment.

What it helps with
Renovation work on buildings of 1 to 5 units, including heating conversion, insulation, windows and doors.
Who may qualify
Owners of 1 to 5 unit residential buildings in Montréal.
Important requirements
A building value cap applies: the building must be at or below $3,860 per square metre to reach the work in Blocks 1 and 3. Co-operatives and non-profits get 1.5 times the maximum.
Combining with other programs
Montréal sets its own caps. Confirm with the borough whether a provincial grant on the same measure affects your RénoPlex amount.

Insulation improvement program (PAI)

Ville de Longueuil

25% of your Rénoclimat assistance, up to $3,000

Published as a top-up worth 25% of the financial assistance Rénoclimat granted you, to a maximum of $3,000 per eligible building, plus $25 for completing an infiltrometry test.

What it helps with
Topping up insulation, air sealing and mechanical system work that Rénoclimat already paid toward.
Who may qualify
Owner-occupants of an eligible residential building in the eligible sector of Longueuil who have already received Rénoclimat assistance.
Important requirements
You must have received Rénoclimat assistance first, the work must be recommended in the pre-retrofit evaluation report, and you need a Longueuil construction permit before the work begins. The City states there is currently no waiting list.
Combining with other programs
This one is explicitly designed to stack on top of Rénoclimat. Rénoclimat assistance is a precondition, not a conflict.

How it works

Step by step in Quebec

The order matters more than most people expect. Doing step three before step two is the usual reason a claim fails.

  1. 1

Work out which system covers your upgrade

Quebec runs two separate systems and they pay for different things. LogisVert is Hydro-Québec and covers heat pumps, geothermal, roof insulation with caulking, solar and thermal storage. Rénoclimat is the Quebec government and covers insulation, airtightness, doors, windows and ventilation. Rénoclimat no longer pays toward heating systems at all.

  2. 2

For Rénoclimat, get the pre-retrofit evaluation before anything starts

This is the single most common way people lose the money. Any work completed or started before the first energy evaluation disqualifies the project. A second evaluation follows the work.

  3. 3

    Check the equipment actually qualifies

Heat pumps must be ENERGY STAR certified with at least 12,000 BTU/h of cooling. Doors and windows must be ENERGY STAR certified. An HRV or ERV must be listed in Section 3 of the Home Ventilating Institute directory.

  4. 4

Have the work done and keep every invoice

Some LogisVert measures, such as thermal storage and geothermal, are deducted straight from the installer's invoice, so the installer has to be set up for the measure before the work starts.

  5. 5

    Apply inside the window

A LogisVert application must reach Hydro-Québec no later than nine months after the measure is installed. If you group several measures, the clock runs from the first one.

  6. 6

Check whether your city adds anything

Montréal runs RénoPlex. Longueuil tops up Rénoclimat by 25%, but only if you went through Rénoclimat first, so the order matters.

Do not be quoted these

Closed in Quebec, still advertised

These have ended. If a quote prices one of them in, the money is not there.

  • Chauffez vert (oil and propane conversion) Ended. The Quebec government page states that owners had to complete all conversion work and submit their application by 31 March 2026 at 11:59 p.m., with supporting documents by 30 June 2026. The application form is no longer available. It is still widely advertised by contractors, so treat any current offer of it with caution.
  • RénoVert tax credit Ended. Applied to agreements signed with a qualified contractor after 17 March 2016 and before 1 April 2019, with expenses paid before 1 January 2020. It still appears in older renovation articles.
  • LogisVert — high-efficiency heat pump with caulking Withdrawn on 25 August 2025. Hydro-Québec paid $140 per 1,000 BTU/h at −8 °C under this measure and accepted applications only for work completed before that date. The current heat pump measure is the one listed above.
  • Hydro-Québec Winter Credit Option No longer available as of 31 March 2026. Customers whose contracts were enrolled by that date may keep it under an acquired right, but it is closed to new enrolment.

Before you sign

What to watch out for

Rebates attract people who are not really offering rebates. These are the things worth checking before any money or signature changes hands.

Chauffez vert is closed, and is still being advertised

It ended on 31 March 2026. Any quote in 2026 that prices in a Chauffez vert grant is quoting money that no longer exists. The same goes for the RénoVert tax credit, which ended in 2019.

“Free heat pump” has a narrow meaning here

Work at no cost is real, but it runs through the LogisVert modest-income stream, which is income-tested, requires a baseboard-heated main residence, and is entered through Éconologis rather than by applying directly. Registration for the 2026–2027 season has already closed.

Nobody legitimate charges a fee to “unlock” a rebate

Every program on this page is applied for free, either by you or by your contractor. If someone wants a payment, a deposit or a subscription before your rebate can be “released”, that is not how any of these work.

Check the amount on the administrator's own page, not on a quote

Rebate figures change, and contractor websites go stale. Every card above links to the page the administrator publishes. If a quote shows a bigger number than the official page, ask why in writing before you sign.

Timing voids more claims than anything else

Several of these programs require an evaluation, a registration or a pre-approval before the work starts, and most have a deadline to apply afterwards. Starting early or applying late is the most common reason a homeowner who did everything else right gets nothing.

Be careful at the door

The Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre warns about ads offering grants or equipment below market value, high-pressure door-to-door tactics, and contractors who take a deposit and then disappear or do poor work. Research the company before you give out your details or sign anything. Suspected fraud can be reported to the CAFC on 1-888-495-8501.

Never hand over your utility account login

No program needs your Hydro or utility password. A contractor may need your account number for an application; that is not the same thing.

Get it in writing

The program name, the exact amount, who applies, and what happens if the rebate is refused, all on the quote. “We will take care of the rebate” is not a term you can hold anyone to.
