Quick answer
Peak Perks is a Save on Energy program that pays $75 when you enrol an eligible smart thermostat and $20 each year you stay. On some hot summer weekday afternoons, your air conditioning is adjusted by up to 2°C for no more than three hours, and you can opt out of any event.1
The incentives
How events work
- Events happen on the hottest summer days, on non-holiday weekday afternoons.1
- Your thermostat may pre-cool by one degree for 30 minutes, then adjust up by no more than 2°C for no more than three hours.1
- You can opt out during any event from your phone or by changing the thermostat.1
Who can join
- Residential customers in Ontario (excluding Cornwall) with central air conditioning, or a heat pump that's part of central air, controlled by an eligible smart thermostat.1
- Eligible brands include ecobee, Google Nest, Honeywell Home, Emerson Sensi, Alarm.com and Trane.1
- You can't be in another automatic thermostat demand response program.1
Why it matters
Reducing air conditioning load at peak helps the grid. Ontario's current demand-side management framework targets 900 MW of peak demand savings.2
